In July 2017, the last surviving pilot of the Doolittle Raiders Lt. Col. Richard E. Cole traveled to the "AirVenture" airshow in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and made several hugely popular appearances.  The airshow, an annual event hosted by the Experimental Aircraft Association or EAA, drew nearly half a million visitors this year and included a special commemoration of the Doolittle Raid's 75th anniversary. Col. Cole, 101, made two public appearances; Jimmy Doolittle's grandchildren Jimmy Doolittle III and Jonna Doolittle Hoppes were also onstage with him. Another highlight featured a dozen B-25's -- led by Larry Kelley and "Panchito" -- re-enacting the 1942 aircraft-carrier take-off and making simulated bombing runs.  Jeff Thatcher, President of the Children of the Doolittle Raiders (CDR), and Melinda Liu gave presentations one evening. Other CDR members who attended were Jim and Susan Bower, Cindy Cole Chal, David and Ross Kantenberger, and Alan Babington-Smith.
