In 2018 President Donald Trump signed the Montana congressional delegation’s legislation to rename the Community Based Outpatient Clinic in Missoula, Montana in honor of Doolittle Raider David Thatcher.  Dr. Joe Medicine Crow and Ben Steele, also World War II heroes, were honored in similar fashion.  Details, including a link to the text of the bill, can be found here.  On February 21, 2019 a ceremony was conducted to commemorate the renaming of the clinic: https://www.missoulacurrent.com/art/2019/02/missoula-raiders-recognition/

The state of Montana also honored Ssgt Thatcher by naming an 18-mile highway in south-central Montana the David Thatcher Memorial Highway.  The highway runs  near Ssgt Thatcher’s childhood home.   The photo below shows Montana governor Steve Bullock signing the bill.  To his right are David Thatcher’s wife, Dawn Thatcher, his daughter, Sandy Miller, and Sandy’s husband Jeff Miller.  Read more about this significant honor.
